Coming Up: 2019 New Student and Family Orientation

Pete Nelson, Admissions Counselor

New Student Orientation (NSO) at Wentworth is quickly approaching! It is your opportunity to explore campus and make connections with other members of the class of 2023. If you plan to live on campus in the Fall, you might even meet your future roommate!

This two-day event will be held on four separate sessions: June 13th-14th, June 17th-18th, June 20th-21st, and June 24th-25th.  Registration is now closed. If you have not registered, please contact the Center for Student Engagement at 617-989-4080.

At Orientation, you will be introduced to all the resources and services Wentworth has to offer. Besides other incoming freshmen, you will get to know current Wentworth student leaders, staff, and faculty. You will also build a first semester schedule and register for classes too! If required, you will also hand in a writing sample for your English course placement. Parents, guardians and family will also have the opportunity to take part in a one-day Parent & Family Orientation. There is no fee for any Orientation programs.

All first-year students, regardless of where they plan to live in the fall, stay overnight in one of our residence halls. At orientation, you will attend academic, financial aid, housing or commuter, and campus community information sessions. You will participate in various icebreakers and activities around campus such as lawn games, video games, ping pong and pool. At night your respective dorms will host a variety of activities. This is a great opportunity to get to know your new classmates.

The following list should be used as you pack; it includes a helpful list of items you may want to consider bringing with you.

  • Sleeping bag and sheets
  • Pillow with pillow-case
  • Bath towel
  • Robe or clothes to walk from the shower to your room
  • Shower caddy, tote, or cosmetic organizer
  • Toiletries: soap, shampoo, etc.
  • Clothes for two days
  • Fan for your room, if desired
  • Exercise clothes (for optional group exercise classes)
  • Rain gear (just in case)
  • A pen
  • Notebook

International Students: We understand the high cost of travel, so we do not require international students to attend New Student Orientation. However, we do require international students to attend Welcome Week and International Student Orientation which will take place right before the start of classes.

If you miss New Student Orientation, no need to worry. Wentworth Opening Week (WOW), running August 31st – September 4th, will cover many of the same topics and allow you to get to know your classmates better. Remember, WOW week is mandatory for both students living on campus and those who are commuting from home.

We look forward to seeing the new Wentworth Class of 2023 on campus!
