Feedback
As we are setting up this program, we are open to suggestions and would love to hear from you (students & mentors) about what’s working well and what could be improved!

Who is this program for?
This program is designed for students studying Industrial Design who are seeking professional industry advice and insight.
Your Mentor, Your Resource: Mentors bring real-world design experience. Ask about career paths, thesis work, or specific skills. Their guidance complements your professors & coursework, it doesn’t replace it.

What can you expect?
This program gives you access to a pool of mentors.
They are experienced professionals from various design industries who offer personalized guidance, industry insight, and support to help you grow.
Over time, the goal is to build a growing network of contacts you can reach out to for advice and support.

Can you meet with more than one mentor?
Yes, you should set up one-off meetings with mentors to discuss specific career questions and areas of interest.
Keep in mind that some mentors may need to decline if their schedules are full. Don’t be discouraged, simply reach out to another mentor on the roster who fits your interests.
Ready to get started? Follow the steps below:

Explore
Browse through the mentor profiles on the “Mentors” tab to find someone who fits your needs.

Reach Out
Contact your chosen mentor using their preferred method.
Briefly introduce yourself, mention that you’re reaching out through the IPAC Mentorship Program, and share what you’d like to discuss, whether that is a specific project, career advice, or general professional guidance.

Connect
Schedule a time to meet over Zoom. Sessions typically last around 15–30 minutes.
Make sure to send the Zoom link to your mentor ahead of time.
Important: Make sure to CC Haik & Courtney in the first email to your mentor.

Prepare
Before your meeting, take time to prepare the topics and questions you want to discuss. This ensures that both you and your mentor can make the most of your time together!
Under the Resources tab, you’ll find suggestions and prompts to inspire your own questions.

Mandatory: Complete the Questions & Topics form each time you meet with a mentor. Writing down your thoughts beforehand helps you communicate more efficiently and get the guidance you need.

Reflect & Grow
After your session, take time to reflect on what you discussed and how you can apply it.
You’re welcome to follow up or connect with a different mentor, depending on your needs.

🔔 A Quick Reminder: Respect Your Mentor’s Time
Our Mentors are generously volunteering their time to support your growth. Please be respectful, professional, and prepared for your meetings and when reaching out.
Communicate clearly, show up on time, and follow through.
This mentorship program was initiated by the Industry Professional Advisory Committee (IPAC) for the Industrial Design major at Wentworth Institute of Technology.
It was created to help students connect with experienced professionals for guidance, support, and insight into the design field.
