September Exhibits & Displays at Schumann Library

Welcome to the Fall 2024 Term, Leopards!

Our Displays & Exhibits Team has built some fun and informative displays for the month of September:

  • Prototypes from the Industrial Design program's Design Through Making course sequence.

Industrial Design: Design Through Making, Guarracino Family Gallery

This exhibit features a collection of prototypes created during the Design Through Making course sequence. In this sequence, Industrial Design majors study 3D realization and rapid prototyping, creating one-of-a-kind models and prototypes that can be used to develop future products.

A title slide reading "September 15-October 15 is Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month"

Hispanic Heritage Month, DEI Display

Atop the Reference bookshelf and next to the Reference Help Desk is our Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Display space. From September 15th through October 15th this is where you will find our National Hispanic American Heritage Month books and display materials!

Take a look at our Hispanic Heritage Month Subject Guide for sorted resources including links to local & national organizations like the Boston Public Library and the National Archives.

A series of posters stapled to a gray wall. Each poster has a portrait of a librarian and a photograph of each of that librarian's pets.

Get To Know Your Librarians (& Their Pets!), Gray Wall Gallery

On the Grey Wall, we’ve installed a display introducing our thirteen full-time Library staff members to the WIT community, as the new school year begins. At Schumann Library, we’re quite fond of our pets and animals, although we don’t love to see them in our library! In addition to showcasing our furry friends, we also want to make sure students are aware of our Animal Policy as well.

A bright red graphic that reads, "I read banned books from the Schumann Library," with the Schumann Library logo and an illustration of a book.

Banned Books Week, Red Gallery

At Schumann Library, we believe in the freedom to read. As book ban attempts rise nationwide, we wanted to spotlight the titles in our collection that have faced censorship challenges over the years since their publication. In addition to these great titles, we also wanted to show off our array of resources for learning about censorship in libraries, such as our Books Not Bans Research Guide, our official Censorship Policy, and the ALA Banned Books page

A blue and green poster announces that September 21 is International Day of Peace. This year's theme is Cultivating a Culture of Peace.

International Day of Peace is celebrated globally on September 21 each year. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace. Also known as, Peace Day, it was established in 1981 by a unanimous UN resolution, serves as a shared occasion for people everywhere to prioritize peace over their differences and to help foster a Culture of Peace.
