To paraphrase basketball star LeBron James, Cheryl Aaron has taken her talents to Wentworth.

The Westwood, Mass. native was named director of athletics in the fall, officially joining the Institute on Nov. 2.

“I cannot express how excited and thankful I am to be taking on this leadership role at Wentworth,” says Aaron. “The community has been extremely welcoming and supportive.”

Aaron most recently served as associate director of athletics at University of Massachusetts Boston, where she supervised seven of the school’s 16 intercollegiate sports and was heavily involved in student-athlete welfare, including serving as a trainer in gender violence prevention and bystander education programs.

Aaron, who also has 12 years of experience as a women’s basketball coach, was inducted into the Westwood High School Sports Hall of Fame in 1994.

“We see Cheryl continuing Wentworth’s long history of running a high-quality athletics department,” says Robert Totino, Wentworth’s vice president for finance.

A driven leader on and off the court, Aaron is already looking to the future.

“We hope to build upon the tradition of success at Wentworth,” she says, “by working to provide our student athletes with high-quality head coaches and staff, competitive facilities, and the other necessary resources to be successful.”
