The design of Boston’s City Hall typically garners more shudders than smiles. Among its many problems, says Kristopher Landry, BSA ’09, MARC ’11, is the empty front plaza, which can resemble a “brick desert.” His redesign features a new restaurant space on the plaza, with a two-story glass wall made of 36 sliding doors to allow for light and balcony views of the plaza space. Landry’s work was one of 25 winning submissions selected by the Boston Society of Architects as part of their annual student competition—and one of 14 winning submissions from Wentworth students.
