More than 200 academic leaders, faculty members, and students from approximately 20 U.S. and international institutions participated in the fifth annual Polytechnic Summit in June on the Wentworth campus, which addressed the theme of “Bridging Boundaries.” Attendees exchanged ideas on cross-disciplinary learning and student-faculty collaboration, and explored some of the ways in which polytechnic education is breaking through traditional barriers created by individual disciplines.
Wentworth professors Robert Lind (Mechanical Engineering Technology) and Amanda Hattaway (Applied Mathematics) chaired the summit.
Keynote addresses by former Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis and University of Memphis Professor Ken Reardon, an expert in city and regional planning, bookended the program, which also included a tour of two facilities connected to Boston’s Big Dig. Wentworth is hosting the 2014 Polytechnic Summit in June. Alumni are welcome to attend. Please visit www.polytechnicsummit.org for more information.
