Wentworth athletics continued to impress this spring, as Dan McSolla, BSCE ’18, was named All-American in indoor track, and the men’s volleyball team reached the NCAA Division III national semifinals.
McSolla finished eighth in the mile at the NCAA Division III Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championships at North Central College in Naperville, Ill., in March. With a time of 4:10:20, McSolla made All-America by one one-hundredth of a second. The top eight finishers in the field earned All-America status.
The 2017 indoor track season was Wentworth’s first as a varsity sport.
The men’s volleyball team spent most of the season ranked between fourth and tenth in the country and made it all the way to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III tournament before falling to New Paltz on April 29.
“I couldn’t be prouder of this group,” said Head Coach Evin Giglio. “I’m excited about next season as we look to win our third straight [Great Northeast Athletic Conference] championship and play in the NCAA tournament yet again.”
Jake Reed, BBME ’17, was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III All-America first team, and Sean Mullen, BSME ’17, Collin Ritter, BSME ’18, and Alex Potts, BSCE ’17, earned second-team accolades. Giglio was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
