Summer Commencement was held at the Bank of America Pavilion for the first time. The Institute awarded 628 students with Bachelor of Science (537), Associate in Applied Science (32), and Master of Architecture (59) degrees. The College of Professional and Continuing Education (formerly The Arioch Center) graduated its first class from the New England Regional Council of Carpenters. Investment manager Alan Fournier, MEC ’83, spoke to the graduating students about the importance of education. He noted that their “learning has just begun,” and encouraged them to “challenge weaknesses and try new things.”

An honorary Doctor of Engineering Technology was conferred upon Fournier, managing member and founder, Pennant Capital Management, L.L.C. In addition, Phillip R. Hooper, S&DE ’58, past vice president and operations manager at FM Global and member of the board of trustees at Wentworth, received an honorary Doctor of Engineering Technology degree. Patrick Norwood, BCNS ’10, provided the student address.
