When Victor Zhu ’15 started to design a studio stool for an industrial design assignment last fall, inspiration came from an unlikely source.
“In terms of form and color, I chose industrial assembly robots as the basis of my inspiration,” explains Zhu. Favorite artists, including Scott Robertson and Thomas Pringle, also provided creative spark.
With comfort and portability atop his priority list, Zhu spent six weeks refining his design in the studio. The final product, which includes bolt footrests, an angled square seatpan, and a bright orange finish, was a showstopper at the Industrial Design Junior Studio Project Presentation in December.
