Library Project officially begins – starting with windows

The Library Renovation Project is officially underway!

Here is an announcement from the Facilities office on campus:

As Spring Break ends, we will be starting the first phase of the Library Renovation Project with the installation of new windows in several areas of Beatty Hall.  On March 15th window installation will begin in the three stair towers of the building with one stair tower at a time will be completed.  In addition, over the Break, safety fencing will be installed around the perimeter of the building for contractor site storage and to protect egress paths and walkways.  The installation of the windows and addition of this safety fencing will mean that there will be changes to the pedestrian circulation pattern around the building and we ask that everyone follow the directional signs.  We ask for your patience and understanding as we start this very important project.  Any questions or concerns should be directed to Mike Pankievich, AVP for Facilities at ext. 4575.

The new windows will be more energy efficient, which is great for regulating temperatures throughout the building. All of Beatty Hall will be getting the new windows – a much-needed building improvement.

Here is a photo showing what the new windows look like, compared with the old windows, from the test installation on the Mezzanine in the library:
