Smart Views for Blackboard Grade Center
If you merge courses, grading and grade entry can be a bit more time consuming because all the students are listed in the grade center together. Most of us grade student work by section and enter the grades for in class submitted exams or homework for one section at a time. When sections are merged in Blackboard, students from multiple sections are combined in the grade center. You can sort based on the child course section but you may need to scroll more than you want.
There is a way to separate sections for grading – SmartViews. To set up a Smart View navigate to the Full Grade Center in Blackboard. Next, open up the manage Smart Views page by clicking on the manage button near the top of the Grade Center and selecting Smart Views.
On the Manage Smart Views Page, click on the create Smart View button.
Give your Smart View a name and then select the criteria you want to use, namely a custom query based on the Child Course ID column.
Enter the Blackboard Course ID in the value field for the Child Course ID criteria.
Click submit to create the Smart View.
If you mark the Smart View as a favorite it will appear under Full Grade Center in the Grade Center area in the course Control Panel.
