For evidence that Wentworth alumni find career success, look no further than CDM Smith, a full-service engineering and construction firm with more than 5,000 employees. At the very top of the company sit three Wentworth alumni: Chairman and CEO Stephen Hickox, CHE ’68; President and COO Timothy Wall, CEC ’92; and Vice President/Client Service Leader Robert Button, CET ’91, CEC ’92, TMC ’92.

“It really started with the fundamentals,” says Hickox when describing his career ascension. “Wentworth provided a great base to grow on and gave us a practical mindset.”

CDM Smith—now in its 70th year—employs 19 Wentworth alumni, all providing solutions to clients in water, environment, transportation, energy, and facilities. Wentworth has also served as a client, with CDM having worked on Sweeney Field and the “Pike” pathway, among other projects. The company also consistently hires Wentworth co-ops.

“The practical nature of Wentworth’s program means that its students and graduates get to work and hit the ground running,” says Button.

Adds Wall, “Wentworth students are incredibly hard working and are very committed to the work they do.”
