Operation Negus: Telling Stories Through a Series of Typographic Portraits

Title slide for Operation Negus

The Schumann Library is excited to announce its first exhibit of 2022: “Operation Negus,” presented by Crowns. Crowns is a Wentworth student group, started in 2019 by Jennifer Anitus, focused on uplifting women of color.

We asked Crowns to tell us a bit about the origins of “Operation Negus:”

The idea behind “Operation Negus” (pronounced “nay-goos”) began after an incident that prompted us to share stories within our community. The exhibition is a response to the silencing of Black voices and Black representation at Wentworth. [Operation Negus] was meant as a way to highlight Black voices and POC stories while celebrating us within Black History Month. We wanted to get POC students, staff, and faculty involved to make it more of a Wentworth community project. The exhibition is still ongoing and we are looking forward to collaborating with more POC members of the Wentworth community.

The exhibit was unveiled in the Guarracino Family Gallery on February 1, 2022 to the Wentworth community.

Schumann Library is honored to host such a powerful exhibition of our community’s words and voices. “Operation Negus” will be on display through April 29, 2022.

Below are the slides for the exhibits and photos from the unveiling of Operation Negus.
