Developing a teaching practice is a lifelong learning endeavor. As educators, we are influenced by many factors such as our discipline, how we’ve been taught (both good and bad!), and student feedback. We offer the reflection questions below for you to reflect on your own teaching practice. This information informs the LIT course consulting process.

Teaching Reflection

• How have you been taught in your discipline, field?
• How do you like to teach? What works well for you?
• What doesn’t work well for you?
• What would you like to do differently?
• What is your expertise? What do you bring to the class?
• What methods do you use to assess how students learn?
• How do you determine what students need to learn?
• What techniques do you use to teach different students?
• What kind of feedback do you get from students?
• What kinds of questions do students ask?
• How does this course fit into the overall curriculum?
• What weak spots in student skill/knowledge are there that require reinforcement?
