Do you want to create online quizzes or tests for your students? Research shows that frequent low-stakes assessment benefits students by decreasing anxiety and providing retrieval practice (Lang, 2016 – loc. 755). Although Blackboard has a tool for creating and administering online quizzes and tests, creating large question banks for frequent assessment can be time consuming. To generate the questions needed for frequent short assessments as well as longer tests, a streamlined process is needed. Using the Respondus test generator tool, instructors can create and upload questions using MS Word or they can select from content in the Respondus Test Bank Network. The Respondus Test Bank Network contains official publisher question pools from thousands of textbooks.
Respondus is a Window program that users can download from LConnect. Log into LConnect and on the My LConnect tab click on the “Access Your Software” link on the Online Software Distribution module in the left most column. Mac computers at Wentworth are generally provisioned with Boot Camp and a Windows partition, so although this is a Windows program, Mac users can also use it. (Using Boot Camp to access Windows requires that you reboot your Mac into the Windows partition to install and use the software). Follow these installation instructionsonce you have downloaded the installer from LConnect. If the version you install from LConnect does not have current license information, contact LIT (lit@wit.edu) for current license codes.
For more information on using Respondus check out Respondus’ video tutorial library. In addition, the LIT staff can assist you in creating tests and using Respondus. Contact the team at lit@wit.edu.
In addition to the video tutorials provided by Respondus, our Atomic Learning subscription has Respondus 4.0 Training. (This link will take you to the Respondus training course in Atomic Learning. Log in with your Wentworth credentials to access the training.)
