Using a points totaling calculation makes it easier to find errors in your grade book set-up, makes it easier for students to understand their grades and how they are doing and reduces meetings with students to confirm their standing toward the end of the term.

Weighty Matters – Part 2: Using Weighted Grade Columns

Blackboard’s weighted columns can handle almost any grade calculation. Options include equal and proportional weighting of columns in categories, dropping low scores, or selecting only the highest score. There are few options that can’t be accommodated using Blackboard Grade Center.
