July Brightspace Changes to Turnitin Integration

On July 20, 2022 starting at 9 PM our Brightspace instance will be updated to the most recent release. Most of the changes are minor and will require little or no adjustment. One area where changes  might impact instructors are in the Turnitin Integration. The Turnitin Interface in the assignment workflow in Brightspace is being updated to reflect changes in the Turnitin product. In addition the order in which some options appear is changing.

If you are an experienced Turnitin user, you are familiar with the interface options for GradeMark and Originality Checking:

In the updated interface, Originality Check is now called Similarity Report and is listed first, because it is the tool most instructors select when enabling Turnitin.  GradeMark is now listed second and has been renamed Online Grading:

There are some tweaks to the settings you can now select for the Similarity Report. You have the option to have all submissions checked or select individual submissions for review. There will also be a new option to check for collusion. You can read more about checking for collusion on the Turnitin website.

These are relatively minor changes, but changing the naming of features and the order in which you select them, can cause confusion. Hopefully this post, reduces the confusion.
