Iraq War veterans and college students James O’Neill and Michael Anthony visited campus to speak with students about their combat experiences and how they are using art and literature to cope in the aftermath.
O’Neill is a graduate student at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and his artwork, which reflects on his time at war, was on display in Wentworth’s Casella Gallery.
Anthony, who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in creative writing at Bridgewater State College, shared an excerpt from his book Mass Casualties, which chronicled his year in Iraq as an operating room medic.
The veterans also answered questions from the audience of nearly 300, representing the Wentworth community, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, veterans, and the general public.
