In the last year, Wentworth has raised $150,000 for academic scholarships and established four new scholarships for students. An April 4 reception celebrated the generosity of donors.

Annamaria Wenner, associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students, spoke on behalf of the Institute.

“I am so honored to be here this afternoon, to stand in front of a room filled with such a spirit of philanthropy,” said Wenner. “Your contribution to scholarships for our students demonstrates the need to invest in the potential of others. I am proud to report that you are receiving an incredibly high rate of return on your investment.”

Scholarship recipients Bethany Oxford, BCMT ’11, and Vinnie Rodriguez, BSM ’10, spoke about the value of their education and their gratitude toward the donors.

“Instead of having to find a parttime job to pay for college, I am able to focus on my studies and my extracurricular activities. Being involved on campus is a very important part of my college experience,” said Oxford.

Rodriguez recently participated in a service trip to Peru. In his time there, the value of giving back made him think more about the opportunities financial aid has afforded him over the years.

“During the trip,” he said, “we were able to invest in the people of Peru—in their education, technology, economy, and personal growth—just as people have invested in mine.”
