When Bryan Webb, BCET ’13, noticed a hearing-impaired classmate on the first day of his junior year of high school, he employed his basic sign language skills to say “Hi.” The classmate responded with a flurry of signs, to which Webb could only smile, unable to keep up. Three years later, Webb is fluent in sign language—thanks to his former classmate—and spreading awareness about deaf culture as the founder of Wentworth’s first-ever Sign Language Club, which already has almost 30 members after just one year.
