Sarah Bearse, BELM ’05, finished her decorated soccer career as the Institute’s all-time leader in goals (30) and points (78), and presently sits in second place in both of those categories. Along with her athletic prowess, Bearse excelled in the classroom, receiving College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American honors twice, and receiving the Eugenia Louise Sweeney Senior Scholar-Athlete Award in 2004.
Raj Bhangoo, BMT ’04, was a key player in Wentworth’s outstanding hockey teams from the early 2000s. As the goalie, he ranks at the top of Wentworth’s all-time list with a .924 save percentage and seven shutouts, second with a 2.46 career goals against average and 28.39 saves per game, and third with 38 wins and 1,760 saves. His outstanding play on the ice his senior season earned him first team All-American honors, the first time such an honor was received by a Wentworth athlete.
Glenn Gussis, BCMT ’03, finished his baseball career as one of the Institute’s most successful pitchers. His 17 complete games rank first in the program’s history, while his three shutouts and 181 innings pitched place him second on the school’s all-time list. His 12 career wins, the third most in Wentworth history, are especially impressive given the school won just 27 games during his career.
Jamie Weiss, BMT ’03, was one of the driving forces behind the enormous success of the Wentworth hockey team. He made an immediate impact upon arriving on campus, tallying 48 points and being named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast Rookie of the Year while leading Wentworth to its first ECAC Northeast Championship. During his career, Weiss played in all possible 117 games, the longest such streak in school history. His assists (73), and points (119), rank third and fifth all-time, respectively. Along with his success on the ice, Weiss also thrived academically, twice being named a CoSIDA Academic All-American.
