In May 2009, friends and family members of over 140 Wentworth students, from both the February and May graduating classes, attended the Institute’s Spring Commencement Convocation, held on the quadrangle.

Mr. Peter Campot, chief executive officer of William A. Berry & Son, Inc., served as the commencement speaker.

Mr. Campot encouraged students, “Find the joy in your lives in being the best every day and success will follow.”

Kimberly Hardy, ELME ’09, provided the student address. After asking her fellow graduates to reminisce about their time at Wentworth, she assured her peers they were ready for life after graduation because

“Wentworth has made us stronger, preparing us for what is to come.”

David Arruda, ELME ’09, was awarded the prestigious Beatty Award for outstanding scholarship, named after Wentworth’s first president, Dr. H. Russell Beatty.

The then-president of the Wentworth Alumni Association (WAA), Matthew Kane, presented a $25,000 check from the WAA to be used towards funding the creation of the Phillip J. Brooks Memorial Scholarship in honor of former president of the WAA. This continues the tradition of the WAA giving a check to be used towards scholarships for future generations of Wentworth students.
