Let’s start this blog post off with a shout out to our amazing Physical Plant and Facilities Team – these are the folks who literally make Wentworth happen day in and day out. Besides maintenance and upgrades to all of our physical spaces, they also do a great job with our grounds (we love our beautiful quad!). This is the team that sets up events, helps with move in, comes to campus in the middle of the night for emergency repairs, and shovels snow and ice in the middle of winter. When you see them around campus (most of the staff wears a blue uniform), be sure to show them some Wentworth love.
This group is also responsible for renovations to spaces around campus, and they were busy this summer. There were lots of projects to upgrade both classroom and residential spaces. And in our last #WITwants2know question, 35% of you didn’t know about these.
The old Accelerate spaces in Wilson Hall were renovated into brand new classrooms. We also opened the new Veteran’s Lounge this summer, also in Wilson Hall. In the residential areas, the apartments in Vancouver got some new bathroom and kitchen features. Baker Hall lobby got a refresh and there are plans to refresh the upper floor common areas as well over winter break. There’s also dedicated study space and game room in Baker. Across the street in Evans Way/Tudbury, the game room has a new look and we’ve converted the old mailroom into a new study lounge. Across the other street in the Annex, Blount Auditorium has upgrades to its audio and visual capabilities (shout out to DTS too!).
We’re paying a lot of attention to our space on campus. We know the look and feel is important to the student experience. There’s certainly more planning happening for other areas, so stay tuned for those updates.
We’ve posted some pictures of campus renovations on our WITDeans instagram. Check ’em out!
