Sometimes you just need someone to listen. You’ve had a bad day. Your relationship just ended. You’re worried about tomorrow’s presentation. You’re just not feeling like yourself. And it’s 11:00pm on a Tuesday or 4:30 on a Sunday afternoon. We’re here for you.
In the evenings and on the weekends, students have the opportunity to speak with a counselor by calling 617-989-4390 and following the prompts to press #2 for a counselor. In our recent #WITwants2know question, only 45% knew of this service, which is good – but we want all students to know about this important resource.
The counselors are licensed therapists who can talk with you when you need it. While this service is not intended to be a replacement for consistent, ongoing therapy, they can help in the moment when you need to talk or to process through a situation or feelings. We have partnered with an organization called ProtoCall to provide this service to our campus. It is free for students. And there is no limit to how many times you may call.
Students should also know that the Center for Wellness has triage hours each day for students who are experiencing some distress and need more immediate attention. The triage hours are every day from 11am-12pm and 3pm-4pm.
Students can also contact the Center for Wellness to schedule an appointment for a later date.
As a reminder, if you or someone you know may hurt themselves or someone else, or wants to end their life, please call Public Safety if you are on campus at 617-989-4444 or 911.
