Families are already making their plans for Family and Alumni Weekend in October. Typically we see over 400 families throughout the weekend, enjoying events on campus and exploring the city. In our most recent #WITwants2know, 28% of our respondents indicated their family would be heading to Boston that weekend. Many of our families attending the weekend’s events will be those of our first year students. For some of them, it will be the first time they’ve seen their student since move in. It is always so great to see grandparents and younger siblings at Family Weekend.
For some students, family means more than parents and siblings. Our definition of family has expanded to include those whom we care for and who care for us, those we enjoy spending time with, and those who seem to bring out the best in us. Our friends are also our family. The bond between friends can be unbreakable, quite similar to the bind some feel about their family.
Is your family coming for Family Weekend and your friend’s is not? Invite them to join your family for the weekend events. Are both of your families not coming? Attend events together…as family.
