Maintenance, renovations, and upgrades to the residence halls this summer…

The summer is not all fun in the sun. There’s lots of work to be done on campus in preparation for a new academic year. The summer is a good time for work to be done in the residence halls, while most of our students are not on campus. With 555 and 525 in use over the summer, immediate needs in those areas are addressed in just the small time between summer closing and opening in September. However, more substantial work can be done in other areas. The following is a partial list of some of the work that was done this summer in the other buildings:

new beds in 610 Huntington

610 Huntington Avenue

  • New bed frames and mattresses
  • New carpets in all of the bedrooms on the 2nd floor

 

Baker Hall

  • Pipe repairs to alleviate leaks in the 1st floor bathroom
  • All beds lowered slightly to allow easier access
  • Showers have been regrouted

Evans Way/Tudbury

  • Wireless routers upgraded in each suite
  • New flooring in Middle Tudbury on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors
  • Closet repairs
  • Lots of new paint
  • Window repairs

 

The Apartments: Louis Prang/Vancouver/Edwards

new appliances and cabinets in some of the apartments

work done in various buildings/apartments (not all of these items were done in each space)

  • Air conditioners are being serviced or replaced
  • Updates to some kitchens and bathrooms (cabinets, appliances, vanities, shelving)
  • New paint
  • Roof work to increase water drainage
  • New desks and mattresses

 

A special thanks to our Physical Plant and Facilities staffs who take on the huge responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of our residence halls. Their hard work does not go unnoticed….in the summer and throughout the year!
