It’s On Us

Last week, #WITwants2know asked about your awareness of events that happened on campus recently promoting sexual assault awareness. And 77% of you indicated that you did know these events were happening. That’s awesome! Hopefully that means you also had a chance to stop by one of those events to learn more about preventing sexual assaults.

If you didn’t know about these events or didn’t have a chance to stop by, we ask you to take a few minutes to review some of the information on our Not Alone website – www.wit.edu/notalone.  On this site, you can find information about:

  • confidential resources on and off-campus
  • how to report an incident of sexual misconduct
  • specific Wentworth policies
  • WIThero, our bystander intervention
  • how to help a friend

The definition of consent is also on our Not Alone site. And because it is so incredibly important to get consent, it’s important enough to include here too:

Consent must be communicated, mutual, non-coercive and given free of force or the threat of force. A student who is physically or mentally incapacitated by drugs, alcohol, due to an intellectual or other disability or other circumstances may not be capable of giving consent.

If you are interested in being involved with the planning of future programs and events to prevent sexual assault, please contact Dean Kosses at kossesj@wit.edu
