The Summer on Campus

Our summer semester is underway. The first week is done. And apparently the weather this upcoming week will be a little more cooperative than last week. Word on the street is we may hit 90 degrees on Thursday!

In our last #WITwants2know question, 65% of students were looking forward to the summer semester on campus. Perhaps for a majority of these students, this is their last semester as an undergraduate student. They are anxiously looking forward to summer commencement on August 20th at the Bank of America Pavilion.  But for others, who are not yet graduating, there are other things to look forward to…

Construction on the new Multipurpose Academic Building will begin over the summer. Soon, some preliminary work on the QUAD will take place followed by more substantial work later in the summer.  To learn more about this new building, visit www.wit.edu/mpa

The summer semester also brings back our very popular BBQs.  What’s better than a $5 BBQ?? With the construction on the QUAD area, look for summer BBQs to happen on the front lawn.  And Treat Yo’ Self Tuesdays is back – a special treat in the Flanagan Campus Center every Tuesday.

Our Director of Fitness and Recreation, Mike Williams, is planning a number of recreation events on campus this summer. In addition to weekly group exercise classes, be on the look out for cornhole tournaments, open field time, a bike challenge, and 3 point contests!

COF Summer Softball is back! Form a team with friends, or enter as a free agent.  The season runs from May 23-July 19.  Find out more at imleagues.com/fenway or contact COF Intramurals director Brad Tittrington at btittrington@colleges-fenway.org The deadline to register is May 18th.

Concerts, farmer’s markets, July 4th celebration, ScooperBowl…Boston in the summer is a great place to be!!

So whether this is your last semester or first summer on campus, be sure to make it a good one!
