#WITCares about Houston

August 31, 2017

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

We have all watched the news reports of the devastating impact Hurricane Harvey has had on Houston and the surrounding areas over the last week. As a coastal community who worries about similar weather-related events, Bostonians hold our friends in Texas close to our hearts.

While we may not be able to make the 2,000-mile journey to Houston to help, we can contribute to the relief and rebuilding efforts. We can do this both as individuals and as an Institute.  President Pantic is challenging the Wentworth community to a 7-day donation drive to show Houston that #WITCares. Wentworth will match contributions made by our Wentworth community from today until Friday, September 8, 2017, up to $2500.

Below are links to three organizations that have been mentioned in various news outlets as leaders in the fundraising efforts.  Faculty, staff, or students making a monetary donation through these or other preferred Hurricane Harvey donation sites, using their wit.edu email address, can email or bring a copy of the receipt to me (wennera@wit.edu, Rubenstein Hall, room 003). These receipts will be tallied at the 7-day challenge.

For those unable to contribute online, there is a collection jar in the Office of Student Affairs, located in Rubenstein Hall, room 003. If all you can give is the spare change in your pocket, please know every penny counts. All funds collected will be added to the overall donation amount.

Thank you in advance for considering this important challenge and for keeping everyone impacted by Hurricane Harvey in your thoughts and in your hearts.

All my best,

Dean Wenner
