Zoom

Zoom is a communications software that combines video conferencing, online meetings, chat and mobile collaboration. Zoom allows for HD video and high-quality audio for all meetings. It contains collaboration tools such as polling, chat and breakout rooms.  Zoom also allows the host and participants to share their screen and co-annotate for a more interactive meeting. Zoom can also be used to record and share webinars and trainings.

Why Should You Use Zoom?

With Zoom, you can deliver presentations, class sessions, perform demonstrations, brainstorm with students and colleagues and securely share confidential information online from anywhere at any time. Your meetings can be one-to-one, or you can meet with multiple people or your entire class at once.

  • Presentations/Lectures: Deliver a slide presentation to your online audience. Whiteboard feature is now available on zoom!
  • Demonstrations: Show meeting participants how a software application or product works by inviting them to view a demo in real time, whether they are across town or a thousand miles away.
  • Work together: Meet with others online to share, discuss and edit any document. Transfer presentation controls to other attendees.
  • Virtual Office Hours: Conduct live, synchronous office sessions for your students.

Step 1: Navigate to https://wentworth.zoom.us/

Step 2: Click Sign-in — You will be taken to the Wentworth Sign-in page to authenticate.

Step 3: Enter your Wentworth email address and password and click Sign in.

Step 4: You will now be taken to the Zoom Profile page and can enter some identifying information.

Set Up A Recurring Course Zoom Session through Brightspace

Set up Course Zoom Sessions through Brightspace

Creating Zoom sessions through your Brightspace course will make it easy for you and your students to find your course meeting links. All participants know exactly where to locate the session link. Zoom recordings will also be automatically added to your course Panopto folder.

Step 1: Click on Zoom Meetings from your Brightspace course home page. A new browser window will open for you to set up your Zoom meetings.

Step 2: Click on Schedule a New Meeting.

Step 3: Edit Topic and Description fields. By default, the Topic field will be your course name. If you have more than one recurring meeting (e.g., “Course Meeting” and “Office Hours”), it is best that you use a descriptive name so students know which meeting link to choose.

Step 4: Click the Recurring meeting box. A drop-down menu will appear. Select No Fixed Time (this way the link can be used at any time and you don’t need to worry about it expiring or ending at a certain time).

Step 5 (optional): Under Meeting Options, click the Record the meeting automatically box. Keep In the cloud selected if you would like these recordings automatically saved to your Panopto course folder.

Step 6. Be sure to click Save at the bottom of the window.

Step 7 (optional to sync recordings with Panopto course folder): Click on the Panopto Video link from your course home page. This will automatically provision a Panopto folder for your course where you will find all Zoom meeting recordings set up for this course.
